Cheryl

Cheryl (Administration)

Cheryl is one of the first people you will meet at the Advance Dental Group. She has worked in dentistry for 23 years as a Certified Dental Assistant and Office Administrator. Cheryl’s friendly manner helps patients feel at ease with all their dental needs. She takes time to explain treatment, answer patients’ questions, and book treatment for patients. Cheryl enjoys her job and the opportunity of getting to know the patients. Cheryl has worked with Dr. Macdonnell for 10 years and appreciates being part of the office team. She finds it very rewarding to see the patients completed treatment and the smiles that come with it! Cheryl is married and has two very active boys who enjoy soccer and hockey. After work and on weekends, you can often find her at the hockey rink or soccer field! In her spare time Cheryl likes to walk, golf, and spend time with family and friends.

Teresa (Administration)

Teresa has 14 years experience as a dental administrator and has worked with Dr. Macdonnell at the Advance Dental Group since 2004. Teresa is a wealth of knowledge and can answer all your questions concerning dental insurance and other administrative issues. Teresa loves to read, bike, and spend time with her husband and two children. She enjoys touring the many wineries that the valley has to offer sipping wine and taking in the many vistas that the Okanagan valley has to offer.

Margie (Administration)

As an office administrator Margie brings over 20 years of experience in both the dental and medical field and loves her job. She is very much a people person – a great asset to the office and is always there to help with new patients. Margie has a wealth of experience and can assist in answering any insurance or administrative question you may have.

Her hobbies include camping, traveling, gardening, singing and spending time in the great outdoors. She has a wealth of experience travelling on mission trips where she has volunteered her time supplying clothes and shoes to remote villages and helping in dental and medical clinics. Margie loves her husband and her grandbabies are the delight of her life. She enjoys meeting new people and always gives her best to patients.

Laurel (Hygiene Co-ordinator)

As Hygiene Co-ordinator Laurel brings a wealth of experience to the practice. Laurel spent many years working at the Vancouver General Hospital Department of Dentistry. Laurel is a trained chef and has a passion and interest in food and wine, but missed the atmosphere of a busy dental office. She enjoys getting to know the patients and their families. Laurel is here to provide families the support and co-ordination it takes to get everyone in the family booked for their cleaning.

In her spare time you will find Laurel volunteering with the elderly, cooking great meals and touring the many fine winery’s in the Valley. She loves living in the Okanagan.

Karin (Registered Dental Hygienist)

Karin was born in Berlin, Germany and came to Canada, (Edmonton) at the age of 2. She has lived in Kelowna since the age of 12 and is one of 9 children. She has 3 grown up boy’s one granddaughter and one grandson. Karin enjoys gardening, sewing, crafts, camping, fishing, quading, and golfing. She graduated with a Dental Hygiene diploma in 1977 from U.B.C. (Vancouver). Karin has been working with Dr. Macdonnell since 1998 and still loves dentistry and hygiene. Karin enjoys all the changes she has seen in dentistry since 1977 and the personal contacts she has made over the years. Her depth of knowledge and experience in gum disease and its management is a benefit to all the patients she treats.

Jenna (Registered Dental Hygienist)

Jenna is one of our friendly Dental Hygienists. She received her diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2007 from Camosun College in Victoria, BC, and while working full time pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Science from UBC. She has nearly 3 years of experience as the primary hygienist at a local periodontal office. Jenna takes the time to make each appointment a good experience for her patients and values educating her patients on good oral health practices. In her spare time, Jenna enjoys baking, wine touring, going to the beach, downhill skiing, curling and hot yoga.

Jen (Registered Dental Hygienist)

Jen has 9 years of experience in dentistry working as a receptionist, treatment coordinator, assistant and now a hygienist. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program in 2007 at Okanagan College and worked in Edmonton, Alberta for a year before going back to school to become a Hygienist at the Canadian College of Dental Health in Burlington, Ontario. Jen is certified in Laser Bacteria Reduction Therapy and completed her local anesthetic certification at UBC Vancouver. Originally from Salmon Arm, she is now back home in the Okanagan. Jen enjoys long walks on the beach, wine, fastball and a good “chick flick”. In the winter you can find her in the mountains snowmobiling or snowboarding.

Taylor (Certified Dental Assistant)

Taylor graduated from the Certified Dental Assisting program at the Okanagan College in 2009 and has been with Dr. Macdonnell and the Advance Dental Group ever since! Taylor is one of the friendly faces that you will see assisting during your appointment with Dr. Macdonnell. Her professionalism and kind manner puts patients at ease. Taylor enjoys the diversity of her job and the opportunity to meet so many interesting people. Taylor loves outdoor activities such as dirt biking, camping, hiking and snowboarding. She also enjoys playing guitar and reading.

Sandy (Certified Dental Assistant)

Sandy has over 15 years of experience as a Certified Dental Assistant. Her Amazing sense of humour can make even the most nervous patient smile. She has the ability to connect with people no matter what their personality type. Her great people skills relax and make patients visits as pleasant as possible. Recently from Calgary she is enjoying the sunny Okanagan and its lifestyle. Sandy loves to swim and the warm sunny days the Okanagan is known for.
